I jumped 6.08 meters at our indoor home meet last week. That's the fifth-best indoor long jump in UCF program history. Three months into my freshman year.
Two things on that.
First, it's an indoor PR but not an outdoor PR. My outdoor best is 6.18m, the Missouri state record. Indoor is harder for me; less wind, shorter runway. Cracking 6.08 indoor tells me the work is real.
Second, Top 10 lists are validation, not the goal. I want to graduate from this program with an outright UCF record. Not Top 10. Number one. Four years to make that happen. Three years and nine months to go.
What I told my mom on the phone afterwards: 'It's a good day. Tomorrow is just another practice.' She laughed. She's heard me say that since I was 12.
